HOW TO PREPARE YOUR FURNACE FOR WINTER

With winter right around the corner, you want to make sure your furnace works. You do not want to be stuck in freezing weather and not be able to get warm air circulating throughout your home. Before the temperature really starts to drop, follow these actions in order to see what repairs are needed for your furnace.

Inspect the Thermostat

There is a very simple test you can do on your own in order to see if your thermostat is working properly. Turn it on, and set the temperature. It should respond immediately, and your house’s interior should warm up to the desired level. If there is a significant delay or if you do not notice any change in temperature, you may just need to get an entirely new thermostat.

Get a Professional Cleaning

Your furnace gets dirty over time. It may have been a year or longer since the last time your furnace got cleaned, so there is likely a lot of dust and other debris in there. You want to hire a professional to clean your furnace to ensure all the nooks and crannies get looked at. A clean furnace operates much more efficiently than a worn-out one.

A little maintenance now and then will help your furnace lasts as long as possible. For professional furnace services, contact Holstead’s Inc. in Ruston at (318) 353-8808.
